Crimson skies. Summer storm clouds. A rocker on the porch. And a sculpted weather vane turning into the breeze, heralding a favorable wind to bring the sailors home and a good soaking for parched fields…
Weather Vanes
These hand-crafted copper weather vanes celebrate our American maritime and pioneering heritage, earlier days when fortunes were determined by wind and weather, and remind us that our lives are still tied to the winds of fortune and the whims of forces larger and more majestic than ourselves.
Each crafted piece features a magnificently detailed native bird in hammered copper. Both the bird and the directional arrow turn to face the wind, even in a light breeze. The directionals (North, South, East and West) are adjustable and lock into place on the sturdy, copper-clad steel mounting rod and brace provided. The brace is flexible and conforms to the peak of any standard pitched roof. Cupola, gazebo, and custom roof mounts are available upon request. Mounts bold to the roof and should be sealed against the weather with heavy-duty silicon caulk or roofing mastic to ensure a lifetime of worry-free appreciation.
Weather vanes can also perch atop optional six- or seven-foot copper-clad steel rod to add movement to any garden and deter nibbling visitors. Hand-crafted, free-standing sculptures are perfect for lawn, patio, garden, or indoor decoration.
- Eagle, Osprey, Owl, Heron, Pelican, Hawk and other custom designs are available as weather vanes and free-standing sculptures in natural copper or verdigris finish.
- Copper is brazed, not soldered, for strength and longevity. Weather vanes from The Copper Smith are durable enough to fly in the wind for years to come.
- Mounting components are numbered for easy assembly.
